As part of our Learning and Development Deliver team, you’ll provide strategic business solutions to our clients through the coordination of our market implementation efforts, talent, content management, and coordination with key functions outside of Learning & Development such as finance, meeting & event services, procurement, third party labour and human resources.

What you’ll create and do
Reporting to the leader of the CPA Centre of Excellence, the CPA CoE Manager is responsible for managing the delivery of the inhouse CFE training program and related support for approximately 500 CPA students who are preparing to write the Common Final Examination (CFE) each year. Teaming with a group of ten professional staff and through extensive collaboration with other HC professionals, business leaders and our external instructors, this role will support the firm’s CFE writers as they prepare to write the CFE. The key focus is on our CFE writer success.
As a trusted advisor to the business, you will collaborate with Line of Service business leaders, HC, and Resource management to ensure the execution of quality, innovative solutions that are aligned to our organization’s strategy. Responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:
Executing on the design, delivery and implementation of the national CFE in-house training program and our related support for CFE writers, including
providing input on the formal training program design in coordination with our external instructors
developing additional support materials to complement the formal training program, including presentations on additional resources and policies and study leave guidance for students
preparing study plans
scheduling and managing the practice exam marking process
maintaining the mock exam tracking system for candidates, mentors and markers
Providing individual guidance and counselling to CPA students, including those with international designations and students who were unsuccessful on the CFE.
Maintaining strong working relationships with our external instructors for both the English and French programs and our external marker leads
negotiating fees and managing budgets
providing guidance on changes to the English program in response to feedback from the students or changes to the structure of the CFE or to the competency map
reviewing changes to course content (cases and lectures) and providing feedback to the instructors
Participating in the CPA Canada working groups set up to solicit feedback from the firms on the impact of Competency Map 2.0 on certification, including the design of the future education and examination model.
Updating and/or creating process and procedure documents and effectively preparing, developing and delivering change management communications and presentations
Identifying effectiveness and efficiency opportunities, and related measurement metrics, to determine efficacy of shared services including, project management, reporting & systems support and call center practices
Maintaining strong working relationships with the HC teams (including Human Resources, Resource Management, National and local L&D),Firm leaders and other key contacts including external CPA provincial body organization leads Preparing and monitoring annual and monthly budgets
Preparing presentations and special reports as required
Representing CPA CoE in various committees, including CPA provincial bodies, meetings and workstreams
Coaching, managing and developing others
What you’ll bring to this role
A CPA designation and first hand experience preparing for and writing the CFE
Knowledge of the CPA designation and the CFE
Experience marking the CFE or being a facilitator or marker for CPA PEP modules would be an asset but not required
Strong consulting skills – specifically, the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written and maintain collaborative relationships with staff at all level
Strong presentation skills, including facilitating group discussions, and preparing and delivering presentations
Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple/complex projects and work towards tight deadlines, including last minute changes, and alignment of resources to ensure priorities are met
Strong project management, problem solving and interpersonal skills
