Job Description

Napier Port is the gateway for goods flowing in and out of Central New Zealand and is at the heart of the Hawke's Bay economy.

Napier Port is running a Covid-19 staff surveillance testing programme to keep its people safe. We are currently looking for a Covid Testing Support with laboratory experience to join our small Covid Testing Team. The position is fixed-term for a minimum of 4 months.

Reporting to the Marine & Cargo Services Manager, with day to day leadership provided by the Lab Testing Lead, the Lab Testing Support role is responsible for the collection, preparation and processing of saliva samples, reading and reporting of results, coordination and administration of the saliva-testing programme.

Successful candidates will have excellent eye for detail, good work ethic, a practical mindset and great communication skills. Experience in the health sector or molecular biology laboratory environment would be ideal. Bachelor's degree in science, Biomedical Science, Pharmacology or equivalent will be considered too. PCR testing experience and / or pipetting skills are an advantage.
