We are working with St John to support their COVID-19 surge recruitment. We are looking for COVID-19 Surge Officers to be based in Auckland and Christchurch on a short-term contract. You will be involved in outbound calls to patients waiting for an Ambulance and while also assisting in taking non-emergency calls to the Ambulance Communications Centre. This role provides excellent customer experience to health professionals and other non-urgent calls including outbound welfare checks to patients who are waiting for an Ambulance to arrive. The role is exceptionally important in the smooth running of the ambulance service.

The Role:

• Process non-emergency calls based on the correct and appropriate process.
• Undertaking scripted welfare checks to incidents that have waited 30 minutes for an ambulance or as requested by a Dispatcher or Duty Centre Manager.
• Provide excellent level of customer service to our patients and informants by building rapport and upholding our organisational values.
• Using critical thinking to assess patient safety and welfare and escalate issues to as required
• Manage the national welfare check queue (for both NorthComm and SouthComm).

The ideal candidate:

• Will have call centre experience within the last three years.
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated skill in managing escalated customer queries.
• Be a positive, willing, and contributing team member while based at the Ambulance Communications centre
• Demonstrated, excellent keyboard skills; proven speed in typing and competence in operating computerized systems such as databases, email and Windows driven packages.
• Strong problem solving and conflict resolutions skills
• Thrive in a fast/paced and high-pressure environment.
