Join the award-winning Toronto Public Service as a Courier focusing on delivery of the Mail-in Voting program within Toronto Elections in the City Clerk's Office.
Major Responsibilities:
Operates city vehicles to deliver and pick up election supplies and equipment as directed, and transports staff to various locations.
Loads/unloads election supplies and equipment such as; Mail-in Voting drop boxes, office supplies, cardboard, equipment, boxes, etc.
Performs clerical duties such as receiving inventory, proofing and distributing Mail-in Voting documents and supplies, data input, photocopying/faxing, sorting, collating, filing and drafting correspondence, etc.
Provides set up of election equipment and supplies.
Maintains storage area and performs quality inventory control.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
Possession of a valid Province of Ontario Driver’s License Class "G" and the ability to qualify for a City Equipment Operations license.
Experience working in a customer service environment, responding to customer inquiries and dealing directly with staff and the public in-person, by email and by phone relating to Mail-in Voting operations.
Experience collecting, reviewing and processing incoming applications and returning Mail-in Voting packages.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook).
Experience working with Voting systems and other Voting technologies is an asset.
You must also have:
Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability and willingness to work in all types of weather conditions.
Ability to travel to various work locations across the City of Toronto.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and the public and follow instructions.
Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail, and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to exercise good judgement in public relations when dealing with members of the public, and all levels of staff, including elected officials.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact.
Ability to work long hours during peak periods including evening, statutory holidays and weekends as required.
Elections experience would be considered an asset.
Fluency in another language would be considered an asset.
