Join the award-winning Toronto Public Service as a Courier focusing on delivery of the Mail-in Voting program within Toronto Elections in the City Clerk's Office.
Major Responsibilities:
- Operates city vehicles to deliver and pick up election supplies and equipment as directed, and transports staff to various locations.
- Loads/unloads election supplies and equipment such as; Mail-in Voting drop boxes, office supplies, cardboard, equipment, boxes, etc.
- Performs clerical duties such as receiving inventory, proofing and distributing Mail-in Voting documents and supplies, data input, photocopying/faxing, sorting, collating, filing and drafting correspondence, etc.
- Provides set up of election equipment and supplies.
- Maintains storage area and performs quality inventory control.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
- Possession of a valid Province of Ontario Driver’s License Class "G" and the ability to qualify for a City Equipment Operations license.
- Experience working in a customer service environment, responding to customer inquiries and dealing directly with staff and the public in-person, by email and by phone relating to Mail-in Voting operations.
- Experience collecting, reviewing and processing incoming applications and returning Mail-in Voting packages.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Experience working with Voting systems and other Voting technologies is an asset.
You must also have:
- Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability and willingness to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to travel to various work locations across the City of Toronto.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and the public and follow instructions.
- Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail, and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to exercise good judgement in public relations when dealing with members of the public, and all levels of staff, including elected officials.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact.
- Ability to work long hours during peak periods including evening, statutory holidays and weekends as required.
- Elections experience would be considered an asset.
- Fluency in another language would be considered an asset.
