Our client, who serves over 150 affluent Canadian clients across the country, is hiring a Corporate Controller to join their growing team. You would be part of an exceptional team who love the work they do.

 The Corporate Controller will report to the firm’s COO/CFO and manage all corporate accounting and finance functions for the firm for both its existing Canadian and soon to be launched US operation, including monthly reporting to the Firm’s affiliated head office in New York. The Controller will also work closely with the firm’s Operations and Compliance teams with respect to its ongoing financial reporting obligations to various regulators and tax authorities as required.

 Snapshot of the Role:

·        Ensure that all full cycle accounting and bookkeeping functions in the firm’s accounting system. (Great Plains).

·        Liaise with and provide monthly reports to the firm’s US based parent.

·        Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, payroll, and bank reconciliation functions.

·        Establishing, maintaining, and monitoring all internal controls with respect to accounting and financial policies & procedures.

·        Working with the firm’s US parent, maintain adherence to Sarbanes Oxley controls at the firm.

·        Provide crucial financial data and work with various members of the Executive Management team to coordinate all financial planning functions with business operations.

·        Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, budgets, and financial projections for review by the COO/CFO and Executive Management Team each month.

·        Provide on-time reporting to regulatory bodies including the CRA and OSC as required including coordination of the annual audit with the firm’s external auditor.

·        Assist the firm’s COO/CFO to assess financial risk, analyze efficiency and inform on policy decisions made by the Executive Management Team.

 Your Key Qualifications:

·        CPA in good standing; undergraduate degree.

·        5 to 7 years of experience in a financial services environment, preferably a smaller firm (i.e., hedge fund manager/private equity/hedge fund/alternative investments) where you gained a wide exposure to the accounting & finance environment.

·        2 years of leadership experience.

·        Experience working with Great Plains (or equivalent).

·        Familiarity with a multicurrency accounting environment (CAD/US).

·        Experience in a multi-jurisdiction environment (i.e., related intercompany transactions such as transfer pricing etc. CAD/US)
