Job Description

This part-time position is a great opportunity for a reliable, enthusiastic and skilled administrator to join our Auckland site and facilities team. Our ideal applicant will be experienced and comfortable in delivering purchasing/procurement and general administrative services to our science and support staff, is proactive and exhibits willingness and flexibility to move happily from task to task to meet changing priorities.

About the opportunity

This position is part-time (four hours per day/20 hours per week), reports to the site manager, and is based at our Auckland site. The purpose of the role is to provide effective site administrative and purchasing/procurement services for Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research as part of a local and national team.

About you

You will have a minimum of a Senior High school qualification (University Entrance, NCEA Level three or equivalent) and a minimum of three years in an office environment in a role including purchasing and front office.

Required:

  • Proven competency in one or more financial systems
  • High degree of numeracy with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to follow policy and procedures whilst identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain good relationships across age, gender, professional, and cultural differences
  • Current full NZ driver's licence
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Government Rules of Sourcing
  • Office experience in a Science, Crown or Government environment
  • Understanding of the science research industry
