What will I be doing?

This is where you come in! Whānau are at the heart of everything we do so you'll be playing a key role in building relationships with our children and families! Our passionate team at BestStart Fendalton love to make learning fun!

We are lucky to have a multicultural community and kaiako work alongside whānau to learn about their culture, language, and identity and how we can meaningfully weave this into our environment.

Beststart Fendalton is on the hunt for a cook to join our small team. We are currently on our journey towards a Healthy Heart Gold award so our new cook will need to have experience cooking fresh, healthy meals that meet these standards. Our successful applicant will be someone who can create an innovative menu and who isn't scared to introduce new foods to our tamariki. Experience cooking for allergies would be a bonus as we have various allergies and dietry requirements.

This position is a permanent part time role working 20 hours per week.

Role requirements:

• Create a healthy, fresh and vibrant menu, and have experience in providing for children who may have dietary/cultural/religious needs and preferences
• Set high standards of health and safety, hygiene and housekeeping
• Demonstrate an awareness of allergies, dietary, cultural or religious needs and preferences when preparing meals
• Be computer literate in order to design menus and place orders
• Have the ability to order resources to meet menu requirements within a set budget
• Support Teachers with supervising children at times
