Robert Half is actively searching for an earnest, resourceful Controller to join the innovative team at an prominent services company. In this leadership position, you will direct an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, and evaluating accounting and internal control systems. You will have the assistant of an office staff member, however there are no direct reports. How you will make an impact

- Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

- Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required

- Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

- Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

- Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

- Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

- Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

- Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

- Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

- Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

Requirements

- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

- Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

- Solid understanding of Process Improvement

- Monthly Reporting experience preferred

- General ledger experience

- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

- Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

- CPA or MBA preferred but not required

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

- Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
