About the team
The Infrastructure and Place (I&P) division is in the process of delivering an ambitious and once-in-a generation $28 billion program of public infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come.
The opportunity
The role is responsible for the effective management of contracts from award to completion, including service provider relationships and development, contract performance and risk management to meet stakeholder expectations and business objectives.
There are opportunities to be involved in our design partner to improve the management of the design partner and assist in the production of designs that are more cost effective, sustainable and robust.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure that government and organisational policies relating to procurement and contract management adherence
- Research, develop and implement frameworks, strategies, systems and solutions to improve the efficiency of the contract management function and enhance Service Provider relationships and outcomes
- Provide sound advice to project teams on interpreting contractual and specification clauses and contract administration in the management of potential claims and disputes
- Participate in the assessment of contractual claims
- Prepare and lead complex and sensitive negotiations for contract variations and claims/disputes to deliver better procurement outcomes and mitigate commercial risks
- Monitor procurement and contract management risks and ensure that this informs contract development, management and procurement to improve future contract outcomes and build the overall effectiveness of the procurement function
- Establish and maintain stakeholder and service provider relationships to identify and minimise risk, resolve issues as they arise, and maximise the contract's value
- Have a sound understanding of financial, technological and governance management, including budgeting, reporting and control

About you
Ideal experience, skills and personal qualities for success in this role:
- The successful candidate will be tertiary qualified in business, commerce, law, construction management, engineering or a relevant discipline, and / or have equivalent demonstrated experience in best practice contracts and commercial management, including significant experience in high level contract negotiation and management of disputes

- Strong stakeholder and supplier management skills in the delivery of innovative, structured well-governed contract management services
- Strong experience in Contract Performance management
- Robust commercial experience in the management of complex construction contracts, long term relational contracts with service providers;
- Excellent written and verbal communicator, ability to communicate and influence
- Proven experience in practical application of commercial principles and business acumen to solve complex contract and commercial issues
- Proven ability to collaborate, build relationships and influence individuals at all levels in a fast paced complex environment
- Excellent organisational skills, able to juggle several priorities at once
- Demonstrated strong working knowledge and understanding of NSW Government Procurement and Contract Management policies and guidelines or equivalent
- Resilience, proactivity, and an ability to work at pace in an evolving and demanding environment
