The opportunity

We are looking for a Consultant to join our Turnaround and Restructuring Services team in our Auckland or Christchurch office. This role is offered on a flexible full time basis.

The Turnaround and Restructuring Services team operate as a national team with assignments located throughout New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Travel will be required as part of this role to meet the needs of our clients.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake financial and commercial analysis of distressed companies
  • Complete investigations into the conduct of company officers of insolvent companies
  • Assist with the orderly wind down of solvent companies and undertake distributions to shareholders
  • Assist to formulate restructuring and business turnaround plans
  • Assist with the management of the ongoing trading of a company's business while undertaking a business or asset sale process
  • Complete investigations into the financial affairs of insolvent companies
  • Assist with the day-to-day management of formal insolvency engagements including liquidations, receiverships and voluntary administrations
  • Secure, recover, and realise assets of insolvent companies, assisting with legal recoveries and proceedings as required
  • Assist with the preparation of reports to creditors, banks and statutory authorities
  • Undertake complex insolvency recovery actions
  • Collaborate on other TAS engagements

Skills and Attributes For Success

  • Have completed a degree in accounting/commerce or equivalent
  • Any experience gained in due diligence, restructuring, insolvency, business advisory/corporate finance, will be beneficial but not essential. Comprehensive on the job training, along with an Oceania-wide training programme will be provided.
  • Willing to complete the CA or CFA qualification
  • An ability to assess challenges in a business and understand the commercial impact of actions
  • Have a high degree of common sense, initiative, and self-sufficiency
  • Ability to deal with conflict and demonstrate resilience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively work with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to client service

Ideally, you'll also have

  • A full, clean, NZ driver's license
