The regional arm of Te Korowai-WhÄriki includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service which operates at the interface between Mental Health Services and the Justice System and works within the following settings - prisons, courts, community, and inpatient. The Service offers assessment and rehabilitation services to defendants charged with criminal offences and offenders who have psychiatric illness.
Moū - About you
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist who will work in a multidisciplinary team setting, providing high quality diagnosis, treatment and follow up of mental health consumers and supporting the medical and psychiatric development of this service. The Consultant Psychiatrist is responsible for providing input to regular prison clinics, and follow up of Special Patients in the Community. In addition, the appointee is expected to provide court requested assessments and reports and may occasionally be required to attend court to give an expert opinion. Peer review, informal supervision and collegial support are provided on a two weekly basis at the Regional Forensic Service in Porirua. There are also opportunities for teaching Registrars and Trainee Interns. You must be vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate. If applying from overseas you must meet the New Zealand Immigration Service requirements.
