This is a field based role with combined home working, and a company car will be provided.

Role Purpose: 

● To implement shop fit works for Wickes Building Supplies Ltd 

● Effecting the execution of projects from Wickes capital programme and assisting in achieving the programme by managing the shopfit activities 

● Deliver Wickes capital programme within an agreed time and agreed service levels to ensure that legislation controls comply which encompass health & safety of staff, public and contractors, within the department guidelines and actively develop the guidelines 

● Application of industry best practice and professional expertise, to support the business in strategy and day to day operations 

● To works closely with Facilities Management to ensure efficient operation in implementation of projects 

● Improvement of cost efficiency of projects by design, initiation, implementation and provision of proposals for improving the cost efficiency of all projects and investigate new materials and methods of construction within the industry to ensure Wickes obtain maximum value for money from its suppliers and contractors 

Dimensions: 

● To ensure projects are managed and controlled throughout the project development stage ● Manage, control contracts and ensure outstanding works are appropriately managed 

● The financial control of projects and contracts ensuring funds are appropriately managed and controlled using the internal Project Management system 

● Understand equally briefs and projects, both from a technical and business perspective 

● Where the Project Manager and/or consultants are aware of any known risk or opportunities that may lie within the new brief and to ensure these are appropriately publicised 

● When issues arise the job holder is responsible for ensuring that the relevant parties are consulted and agreement obtained to any proposed solution for the delivery of the project to meet the brief 

● The job holder will ensure all projects are completed within Local Authority planning restrictions, Building Control Regulations, Health & Safety laws, Construction Design and Management Regulations and Local Fire Officer requirements and activities are monitored and controlled within these constraints 

● To ensure cost effectiveness in all capital expenditure within all capital projects, through bulk procurement, cost engineering and cost management of the retail specification and adopt flexible methods and approaches to reduce costs, delivering the end product and project completion 

● The job holder is expected to have regular contact with colleagues throughout the Refit team

● The job holder will communicate all Retail Development policies and specifications to external contractors and consultants

● Developing and establishing agreed standards and reporting relationships with external suppliers, which meet Wickes requirements 

● React, adapt and implement policy and procedural changes to all capital projects in line with departmental strategy 

Key Accountabilities: 

●Accountable for effecting the execution of Wickes capital programme through management of the shopfitting element of the project and leading if required an external team to a higher level of competence, to ensure that projects are achieved to cost, quality and time objectives 

● To be accountable for the delivery of Refits, extensions and any ad hoc projects to meet Wickes expansion, growth and strategy 

● To liaise with senior managers within Wickes and to support their teams, ensuring service level aspirations are met and maintained 

● To ensure the delivery of all projects to an agreed brief within CE approval and specification and to manage within Development/Property guidelines for all projects in accordance with agreed timescales and cost budgets 

● Source and recommend the appointment of new contractors and suppliers T

To tender, award and implement contracts on behalf of the company for the supply of equipment and services for all projects 

● To ensure the Development team has a clear understanding of capital objectives and job descriptions in place and to formally review them and ensure all projects are completed correctly and that training development plans are in place 

● To ensure external parties perform to the brief and actively appraise their performance

●To ensure consultants, contractors and suppliers have adequate resources in place to achieve delivery 

● To review ongoing project briefs to enable proactive resource planning and levelling identification of shortfalls as required 

● To assist with and develop new concept schemes that accord with the business objectives, develop new ideas and designs, and source new methods and materials within the shopfitting industry
