The opportunity
The Technical Officer conducts and supervises laboratory and/or field operations for detailed investigations, testing, trials and construction in the geotechnical, materials or pavements areas in order to provide accurate and reliable information for road infrastructure development, construction, operation and maintenance.
Assisting in the management of technical risk in the geotechnical, materials or pavements areas by accurate data collection, observation and calculation, by seeking or providing review of work as appropriate, by identifying issues, providing comprehensive technical advice, interpretation and reports to clients, and by relating results or observations to specifications or site conditions
Supporting technical standards by undertaking a broad range of laboratory and field tests, trials and procedures in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, TfNSW or other standards, by maintaining proficiency in required tests or procedures, by maintaining knowledge of and accreditation to NATA, third party or other system requirements, by audit and surveillance activities, and by undertaking equipment maintenance and calibrations
Supporting innovation by contributing to system improvements, providing suggestions for technical improvements, participating in technical trials and technology development projects and by participating in the implementation of new technologies and policies

About you
You will have at least 5 years experience with Tertiary Qualifications (minimum Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques), a current nuclear density gauge license, must be able to travel and overtime is required.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is Grade 4 ($72,686) – Grade 6 ($92,804) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading. For more information on Employee Benefits at TfNSW please click here.
