Job Description

The opportunity

We are looking for a Construction Manager to join us on this historic multi-billion dollar flagship iconic Infrastructure project with a unique delivery model. It has been a very long time having a motorway being fully delivered, owned and operated by NSW Government. You will have a direct relationship with the D&C Contractor whilst providing guidance to work streams, identify issues and strategies so as to formulate appropriate responses to problem solving.

You will be responsible for driving best practice construction and project management principles throughout the project, ensuring that a project management framework is consistently applied throughout, so that overall delivery is in line with time, cost and quality requirements.

This will be achieved by managing our contractors delivering the project effectively and ensuring that all contractual and delivery related obligations for the client (TfNSW) are met.

About you

You are an experienced Infrastructure focussed construction professional that has extensive experience in managing and delivering large scale complex road projects preferably in the urban tunnelling industry and in a brownfield environment. Prior focus on tunnelling and building and structures will be highly regarded.

You will have a desire to work on the client’s side of these major projects efficiently managing our valued delivery partners and the important relationships we have with them, as such communication and relationship building are vital to the role whilst ensuring the project is delivered to our expectations. You will have expertise in constructability in the feasibility and design phases of infrastructure projects and demonstrated experience in or sound knowledge of the development, implementation and commissioning of operations and management control systems.

It’s no secret that you will encounter challenges in this role. The stakes are high and the pressure is on as we deal with budget and time constraints, interface issues and public scrutiny. We are looking for people who thrive under pressure and are energised by the challenges presented in our complex and ever-changing work environment.

Essential requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in civils related works on or associated with large scale urban tunnelling projects.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience acquired on-site in an infrastructure construction environment
  • Strong infrastructure project prioritisation and planning expertise with a record of success in construction of transport infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain cohesive and effective multidisciplinary teams, maximising performance at an individual and team level through a transformational period.
  • Demonstrated superior project management skills and experience with a proven record of project development and delivery of multiple concurrent small to medium projects in a complex and constrained urban environment.
  • A current and valid Australian Drivers Licence is required.
