Job Description

About Us

Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

About the team

We are part of the Community Partnering team of Regional and Outer Metropolitan. We are focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

We engage with NSW regional communities and stakeholders to champion their needs and achieve integrated community outcomes. The Community Partnering team is focused on engaging with the community, industry, local council and other stakeholders to gain insight into their local needs. We manage relationships, deliver road safety programs and transport outcomes which suit those communities now and into the future.

The opportunity

Right now, we have an opportunity available for a Community & Safety Support Officer to join the Community Partnering within the Riverina/Murray precinct in the South Region, on a permanent basis. This role supports the team in partnering and engagement activities, assessments and assisting in the development and delivery of road safety and relevant transport solutions across the region and act as a TfNSW representative for regional communities in NSW.

You will be based in Wagga Wagga or we are open to you working in another location within the South Region, preferably within the Riverina/Murray precinct.

As the Community & Safety Support Officer, you will engage with NSW regional communities and stakeholders to champion their needs and achieve integrated community outcomes.

You will manage relationships with councils, community groups and other government partners to identify and deliver transport outcomes that suit South communities now and into the future.

You will work with Transport for NSW Regional and Outer Metropolitan (ROM) and the wider team to implement engagement strategies to effectively connect a range of different regional communities and key stakeholders across a vast and diverse geographical area.

You must have a valid driver’s license and the capacity to routinely travel within the South Region

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have behavioural or transport related tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience working in a similar position. We are looking for a dynamic individual with strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with councils, regional communities and various others.

You have a passion for road safety and have the ability to engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and community groups, capture an audience, project management, be flexible to adjust to changing priorities, and have great attention to detail. A familiarity working with different levels of government and community would be desirable.

You will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to manage yourself while working autonomously to support regional communities. You will also be able to demonstrate experience of, and be excited at, engaging with stakeholders and customers in problem solving and championing their needs.
