The Consulate General of the United States of America in Auckland invites applications from all interested candidates for a fixed-term Community Liaison Officer Admin Assistant (CLO Pro Tem) to work 20 hours per week. The position is initially 6 months fixed-term with the possibly of an extension.

The Community Liaison Office (CLO) is responsible for developing and managing a program based on community demographics and post-specific needs. This program has a direct impact on morale at the Consulate and effects the well-being of American diplomats and their families working and living in a foreign environment.
CLO duties include:
Welcoming and orientation of new arrivals and their families through information and activities.
Establishing and maintaining relationships within the Consulate and Embassy.
Providing information and referral services on educational options available to employees and family members
Promoting employment opportunities within the Mission and local economy.
Coordinating the development and implementation of relevant programs to enhance post morale in the following three categories: U. S. traditions, host country culture, social, educational and recreational activities.
Developing and maintaining community resources including a monthly newsletter and social media.
Preparing reports on community demographics and needs.
To be successful in this role you must have completed secondary school, and have a minimum of three years of professional work experience in a role requiring strong customer service and excellent interpersonal skills. We are looking for someone with good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and an ability to draft and edit material for correspondence and publication.
The starting salary for this position is NZD $81,031 per annum pro-rata. We also offer some special benefits e.g. both U.S. and New Zealand Holidays - a total of 20 days; and 8.7% contribution by the employer to an employee's retirement.
