Job Description

The Communications Office of the Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) organization is looking for an experienced Internal Communications leader to drive, manage, and execute a broad range of global communications and culture initiatives. The role reports into the Director of Communications, and you will be part of a growing communications function with significant scope for growth and autonomy in a unique organization within Microsoft.

CO+I is the organization that owns and manages the physical infrastructure that powers the Microsoft Cloud, and we’re growing quickly. Our scope, like the backgrounds of our people, is broad, spanning supply planning and strategic acquisition, global datacenter and critical environment construction and operations, availability, and innovation. We are behind some of the most exciting sustainability innovations in the industry and are helping drive material impact in Microsoft’s global sustainability ambitions.

Responsibilities

Your main areas of responsibility will be:

Internal Executive Communications: as a strong writer, you can adapt your skills to a range of voices and communications vehicles. You will create a range of internal communications materials (emails, presentations, events, Yammer announcements and more) that support the voice of the CVP and her Leadership Team in achieving our communications goals. These communications will align to our own rhythm of business as well as C+AI, and broader Microsoft events and announcements.

Internal Events: you will lead the end-to-end production of a range of CO+I events, including all-company Town Halls, Principal Band calls, and CVP Listening Sessions. You will be comfortable aligning event content strategy to organization goals and needs, adept at managing external production partners and be comfortable dealing with the complexity and challenges that only live and virtual events can bring!

Culture and D&I: With the goal of providing a workplace where each of us can be our authentic selves, you will be a key strategic figure in ensuring our D&I programs align to both the C+AI and broader Microsoft D&I programs. As a model of inclusivity and empathy in the workplace, you will work with the CO+I D&I team to build a global program of meaningful, inclusive, and inspiring events and communications where lived experiences are shared and learned from, and which materially change the experience of our people.

Measurement: While a writer at heart, you are adept at interpreting data to continually evolve and improve the effectiveness of your communications.

Project management: CO+I is already a large, global organization filled with many different teams, each with different and sometimes complex needs. The ability to maintain exceptional attention to detail while under pressure is critical, as is being able to build effective workbacks and project manage to deliver on-time with multiple projects.

In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 7 years communications, marketing, public relations or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in communications, including executive communications, and/or public relations, journalism, and marketing.

Proven verbal and written communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex issues and deliver compelling information to different audiences.

A passion for communicating with clarity and impact and an interest in exploring new and compelling ways to connect with our workforce and our customers.

Proven organizational skills and the ability to successfully balance competing projects and priorities.

Professional maturity, outstanding judgment, and the ability to communicate vertically to the senior leadership of CO+I, C+AI, and Microsoft.

Ability to scale content delivery and experience building multi-media communications strategies for a large, globally distributed, and diverse workforce.

Successful demonstration of cross-group and stakeholder collaboration.

Experience with tools and methodologies that measure the impact and effectiveness of communications methodologies

Microsoft Office skills, particularly PowerPoint.

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
