The Division

The Customer Strategy and Technology team within Transport leads the development of long-term, multi-modal strategies, plans and policies across NSW. We leverage data and insights, implement new technologies, drive innovation and build partnerships to provide customer-centred solutions.    

 

About the role

The role will form part of a small multi-agency Movement and Place team from both Transport for NSW and Department of Planning and Environment with dedicated office space in Milsons Point and Parramatta. The role will work closely with Transport for NSW and Department of Planning and Environment communications and engagement teams and will deliver programs using resources from across both agencies. The primary purpose of the role is to develop and deliver all communications and stakeholder engagement plans that will communicate the NSW Movement and Place Framework to practitioners across NSW. This includes the development and delivery of internal and external strategic engagement to ensure stakeholders and customers have access to consistent, accurate, relevant and timely information, including effective use of social media. You would be responsible for managing the development and production of strategic and corporate communications materials, including the preparation, production and release of information, including newsletters, brochures and reports, presentation materials, media releases and articles, intranet, website, community and stakeholder correspondence. You will be a part of a team which works together to redefine integrated transport choices to improve the lives of customers and communities, making NSW a better place to live, work and play.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the communications and engagement for the roll out of the NSW Movement and Place Framework. The role will advocate for the adoption and integration of Movement and Place into existing and future processes and help to build capacity across a range of stakeholders. The role will lead targeted communications across a number of platforms and events designed for a professional audience that includes executive staff and professionals who work in Councils, Consultancies and NSW Government Agencies. This includes developing partnerships with peak professional organisations who represent professions involved in the planning, design and operation of roads, streets and places in NSW.

About you

We are looking for an experienced communications professional with a passion for working across professional disciplines to make roads, streets and places better in NSW.

You would possess demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of communication and engagement strategies. Expertise in writing comprehensive messaging with the ability to translate and tailor complex information to suit diverse stakeholder groups.

 

Experience in networking at the Senior Level, management of stakeholder issues, responding to Ministerial correspondence, customer enquiries and acting as an interface for the NSW Movement and Place Framework.

 

Proven data and analysis, reporting skills and the ability to identify and mitigate risks. Ideally, you’ll have an understanding of the NSW Movement and Place Framework, the ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced changing environment, along with developing highly effective collaborative relationships. You would be a leader with strong experience in supporting highly sensitive projects/situations, issues management, communication and stakeholder engagement.

 

Essential requirements

 

Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality and political sensitivity in liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to identify issues with a high risk or potential public exposure and provide a managed response.

Proven record of success in managing strategic relationships in a complex and dynamic operating environment.

Experience in management and engagement of contractors’ and consultants’ work engaged to support the delivery of strategic and corporate communications is effective and complies with procurement guidelines.

High level of initiative with ability to deal with multiple projects simultaneously and with conflicting priorities.

Strong consulting, analytical and problem-solving skills along with the ability to keep abreast of the developments within other teams at Transport for NSW and the industry as a whole

 

Salary and benefits

 

The salary for this position is Transport Grade 9 $138,670 - $155,309 per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
