Our dedicated Science & Environment team is focused on delivering programmes to enhance Nelson's environment. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic marine scientist with key strengths in relationship management to join our team. The purpose of the role is to oversee a range of environmental programmes for Tasman Bay, including environmental monitoring and reporting.

Your primary focus will be to plan, manage, deliver and report on Council's Tasman Bay environmental programme, in partnership with iwi, hapū and manawhenua and key stakeholders. While previous environmental management experience and relevant technical qualifications are important, we're also interested in your excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people.

  • Sound understanding and hands on practical experience of sustainable marine environmental management in New Zealand

  • Solid contract management skills
  • Data management, record keeping and report writing skills
  • Great written and oral communication skills
  • Experience of working in political environments (preferably NZ local government)
