About this role

The role of the Cloud Security Solution Architect will be pivotal, as BT embarks on a journey to be digital and cloud-native and this role will play an important role in the journey to do this successfully.

The role expects that you have a deep understanding of AWS Cloud and working experience on GCP. You will define our architectural patterns, reference architectures, and will work closely with line of business to help them in their journey to cloud.

The key focus will be on the Cloud Security technology aspects, but we expect the individual to contribute to the organisational and operational challenges as well. 

You'll have the following responsibilities

You will be part of the Solution Architecture team in the cloud centre of excellence and will be expected to work with Enterprise Cloud Architect, Principal Security Architects, Cloud platform engineering, Cloud enablement and Solution Architects from CFU(s) to execute BT’s Public Cloud strategy.

As a Cloud Security Solutions Architect: 

• You will be involved in design reviews and approvals to ensure new applications on Cloud are secure-by-design. 
• You will represent the Cloud Solutions architecture in all pan-BT discussions, and initiatives related to Security on Cloud. 
• You will work closely with cloud platform engineering teams to ensure security assurances are consistently applied across all Cloud services before services are operationally available for application teams to consume. 
• You’ll experiment with technology – running trials, proofs of concept and even building minimum viable products to accelerate our journey
• You will be involved in vetting Cloud Migration projects to ensure the projects comply with recommended security best practices.
• You will work closely with application refactoring teams to assist them to adopt security best practices as part of their refactoring journey to cloud.

Architecture Artefacts:

• You will author and maintain security design patterns related to securing workloads on Cloud, for example – protecting workloads from malicious attacks and building threat detection patterns to block attacks. 
• You will be involved in documenting Security principles that will serve as reference guides to build secure applications on Cloud. The security principles must be based on Zero Trust, CIS, and other relevant benchmarks. 
• You are expected to create and maintain security handbook/guidance documents that explain well-established modern security practices on Cloud. 
• You will create security Reference Architectures that will be referred by application or migration teams to architect solutions weaving in the various security solutions offered by the cloud vendors.

You'll have the following skills & experience

Mandatory skills:

• Experience in using Security Benchmarks and practices – Zero Trust, CIS, NIST, and others. 
• You should be an expert in one of the technology areas in Security like Threat Management, Threat Hunting, Incident Response, pen-test, Data Security, or Identity and Access Management.
• Professional or Speciality Security Architecture certification on AWS and/or GCP.
• Experience you would be expected to have:
• Architecture Frameworks including TOGAF, and their relevance to the practice of Architecture. TOGAF certification is not essential
• Familiar with security architecture, particularly its application into cloud & infrastructure environments
• Experience in running light-touch architecture governance processes in large organizations
• Hands-on experience of Cloud Computing, security services like WAF, Security Hub, GCP Security Command Centre and infrastructure systems,
• Experience of Oracle Cloud or Azure desirable, but not essential
