What you’ll be doing
The position will act as a patient advocate and will play a lead role in service provision for patients with complex cancer related diseases, including research projects, clinical audits and utilising outcomes to further develop cancer services and improve patient care and satisfaction. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) for Radiation and Surgical Oncology leads the ongoing evaluation and improvement of clinical practices to ensure that contemporary and consistent standards of care are provided to cancer patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery or procedures within CCLHD.
The CNC is an expert practitioner who provides a complex and diverse consultancy service to patients, consumers and staff and functions as a clinical leader and resource.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant actively participates in research activities, and the analysis of clinical evidence, and the implementation of evidence based practices to enhance optimal patient health outcomes.
The CNC contributes to the education, training and professional development of clinicians within radiation oncology/surgical oncology nursing to develop a skilled workforce that delivers safe, effective and efficient care.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant initiates, develops, implements and evaluates quality initiatives and strategic changes for Cancer Services in relation to Radiation and Surgical Oncology services
The CNC Radiation and Surgical Oncology reports operationally and professionally to the Nurse Manager Cancer Services.
