We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Clinical Haematologist to join our established Haematology team of seven Senior Medical Officers (SMO) and four Resident Medical Officers (RMO). Applicants should be trained in Clinical Haematology and hold/or be eligible to hold appropriate vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
This permanent full time (40 hours a week) appointment is required to participate in a 1 in 8 on call after hours' roster. The position will be based at Palmerston North Hospital, with clinical responsibilities in one or more of the regions covered by the Regional Cancer Treatment Service.
The service provides inpatient and outpatient haematology care and manages a wide range of haematological conditions including acute leukaemia, lymphoma, autologus stem cell transplantation, plasma exchange, haemostatsis and thrombosis. Inpatient care is delivered at Palmerston North Hospital. Outpatient clinics are run at Palmerston North, Whanganui, Hawera, New Plymouth and Hawkes Bay. The Department maintains an active clinical research portfolio including clinical trials. The service is an approved FRACP training center and undertakes active post graduate teaching at House Officer, Senior House Officer and Registrar level. Multi-disciplinary case meetings (Tumour Boards) are held locally and regionally.
