Hayashi Japanese Restaurant is a hugely popular Japanese Restaurant and is now recruiting a Chef to join the energetic kitchen crew.

Work Duties

Under the direction of the proprietors to work as a Chef including, but not limited to:

1. Planning and changing our menu from time to time.
2. Estimating and ordering ingredients and food produce on a regular basis.
3. Examining ingredients and food produce to ensure and maintain freshness and quality.
4. Training of kitchen or other staff in the kitchen.
5. Explaining and ensuring compliance with relevant hygiene, and occupational safety regulations.
6. Supervising (and where necessary, performing) and overseeing the kitchen operation including:

• Storing and maintaining the freshness of ingredients and food produce appropriately including freezing them.
• Preparing and cooking food and dishes on our menu.
• Seasoning and cooking of food and dishes to our restaurant standard.
• Portioning the serve for each dish.
• Plating and presenting of dishes.
• Cooking food to specific diners’ requirements or requests on occasions.

You will also be required to perform such other duties as may be incidental to the work of a Chef.

Qualification

The successful candidate must have the minimum formal qualification to work as a Chef (by formal qualification or work experience).  At least 2 years of work experience in a commercial kitchen and familiarity in cooking Japanese cuisine is preferred.  If you think you are the right person for the job, please click to apply.  Only successfully shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interview.
