Medirest is our healthcare brand providing specialist food, hospitality and support services to residents and patients in hospitals, aged care and senior living facilities throughout New Zealand.

About the role and who we are looking for:             

We are looking for an enthusiastic Permanent Part Time Weekend Chef to work at our senior living site in Karori, Wellington. Hours of work are Saturday & Sunday 05:30 - 14.00.

In this position you will be responsible for: 

In this position you will work as part of a team to prepare and plate quality, nutritious meals for up to 100 residents living in residential care according to dietitian specifications, ensuring the quality of every dish we serve.

You will be supervising staff, ensuring the kitchen operations are running smoothly, and ensuring all requests are dealt with in a professional, timely manner. You will need to assist with ordering and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. Following high standards of food safety and hygiene is a must.

Ideal skills and experience you will:

If you're our perfect candidate you will be hard working, with a 'can do' attitude. You will already have at least 2 years' experience working in a commercial kitchen doing bulk cooking and ideally you will hold food safety certificates (Unit Standard 167 and 168). A background in the senior living environment would be an advantage but, most importantly, you will demonstrate a passion for great food, customer service and quality.
