As a Capital Equipment Appraiser you will be focused on our tangible asset appraisal service offering. Appraisal is the act or process of developing an opinion of the monetary worth of property, goods, or services and includes:
The determination of the value of property
Estimation of the cost of production of a new property
Estimation of replacement of an existing property by purchase or production of an equivalent property
Estimation of reproduction of an existing property by purchase or production of an identical property
Determination of the non-monetary benefits or characteristics that contribute to value; the rendering of judgments as to age, remaining life, condition, quality, or authenticity of physical property
As a Senior Associate, your skills and attributes for success will include the following areas:
Deeply understand the assets subject to valuation by analyzing fixed assets register/subledger, balance sheets, technical reports, processes flows, engineering drawings and other technical documents provided by the clients
Creating tangible valuation models based on valuation principles including the market and cost approaches. The tangible assets valuation models don’t generally include the income approach through discounted cash flow analysis, while it is important for you to have basic concepts of it and be able to interpret it
Leading multiple work streams for, and/or participating on, client-facing project teams and engagements, driving toward the development of creative solutions that involve performing site inspections; conducting interviews with clients; and performing in-depth machinery and equipment, client, industry, and market research
Analysis of third-party valuations, challenge of assumptions, and performing sensitivity analysis
Preparing internal memorandums and/or client reports that communicate research findings and recommendations concisely and effectively
Active role in business development activities
As an Associate, your skills and attributes for success will include the following areas:
Analyzing and organizing different documentation including fixed assets register/subledger, balance sheets, technical reports, processes flows, engineering drawings and other technical documents provided by the clients
Performing research in websites, databases and via phone contact with third parties including manufactures, dealers and other relevant third parties. Researched information include industry information, historical information, replacement cost, market values, comparable data, etc.
Providing support to create tangible valuation models in MS Excel or similar software
Supporting the preparation of data visualization products
Supporting internal documentation and/or client reports that communicate research findings and recommendations concisely and effectively
Supporting business development activities
Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve
A combination of accounting, financial, business and engineering skills
Progressive experience in tangible asset valuation, preferably at a big 4 accounting firm
An interest in pursuing an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation in Machinery & Technical Specialties from the American Society of Appraisers
Significant experience with database management and mass appraisal modeling techniques in Excel, Access, Power BI, PowerPivot, and/or Alteryx or alternate programming modules
Strong technical skills as well as report writing skills
Experienced at preparing and/or coordinating complex written and verbal materials
Proven ability to manage team members, project workflows and deliver on time
Willingness to travel
A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences and working alongside diverse people and perspectives
