About this role

The Capacity Transformation Specialist is accountable for the programme of delivery to transform and simplify the Converged Core capacity management processes.

Being responsible for simplification of both the Core and Edge estate, driving continual efficiency from forecasting through to deployment and ultimately down to service provision the role holder will be responsible for the continued iterative development of tooling enabling smarter predictive forecasting across our portfolio of products, output will improve our cost margin, speed to market and will accelerate network evolution convergence and decommission 

The Capacity Transformation Specialist will manage the complex requirements, delivery and progress reporting.  They will be the product owner for the application managing the budget, user experience and introduction of new functionality.  It will be the Capacity Transformation Specialist role to create value through removal of inefficient manual processes and by improving Network Capex investment decisions through improved Data Analytics.  Working across Dynamic Infrastructure the role holder will ensure cohesion and alignment with Transmission, Environmental and Plan and Build teams. 

The Capacity Transformation Specialist will manage the capacity framework underpinning real time monitoring and reporting on utilisation, by providing predictive analytics to support varying demand profiles and all associated costs / build SLAs this will ensure all build is appropriately prioritised.  Through agile practice and collaboration with software developers, the role holder will continually look to adopt new ways of working allowing for increased scenario modelling, logic-based input / output and machine learning benefits to be materialised.  Once fully integrated the developments will be self-driven and updated by the users. The role holder will have a wide appreciation of MFU product glide paths along with vendor technical advancements to ensure developments support the transformation.

This role will be critical in managing the maturity of our automation capability and helping to accelerate our digital transformation.

You'll have the following responsibilities

• Product owner for Capacity Management Automation

• Manage delivery of complex workstreams through to development and user training and integration

• Manages existing and new product service process and automation requirements

• Owns modelling capability to produce powerful dashboards, trended forecasts, network investment and prioritised build

• Owns business case management, workstack prioritisation (MVP and business outcomes) and technology investment board budget approval for transformation activity

• Owns the transformation workstream and senior / director level updates into the DI automation programme board

• Manages relationship with Wider DI teams to ensure processes are cohesive and factor in wider dependencies and variables

• Manages development and requirements team through Scrum master principles and agile / dev ops practices

• Owns Jira requirements and on time delivery of developments and associated prototype activities

• Transforms processes to satisfy and build on ISO27001 capacity management standards, manages compliance requirements

• Owns decisions and development of scenario modelling logic

• Manages relationships with Policy and Modeller Specialists to futureproof standards and data driven accuracy.

• Manages large datasets to drive valuable business insights

• Manages multiple interdependent workstreams - future capacity requirements for demand, link utilisation, build big and network compaction.

• Owns network investment data driven decisions for Converged Core

Key decisions

You'll have the following skills & experience

• Data analysis and statistical knowledge: Competently managing large datasets to identify and interpret trends / valuable business insights, produce forecasts and drive strategic business decisions.  Strong mathematical, programming and advanced excel skills.

 

• Very strong communication skills – Processing and presenting data using visualisation.  Engages with and presents to colleagues, senior managers and directors, across platform, design and strategic vendors.

 

• Stakeholder Management: Managing expectations and the level of stakeholder engagement. Ability to manage to complex political relationships in a variety of business and technical situations.  Manages major escalations and ensures recovery actions are implemented.

 

• Creative thinker and agile development: Transforming processes and logic into system driven capability working with transformation specialists and developers.

Experience you would be expected to have

• In depth knowledge of the full end to end platform design and build principles.

• Financial and commercial acumen including business case management

• Working knowledge of IP Core support systems Jira, Srims, NPM, PACs and Bert.

• Knowledge of the Converged Core (edge and core) including transmission and services 

• Expert in translating network utilisation data to support investment and strategic infrastructure designs.

• Able to develop and deliver business cases for platform upgrades, growth and maintenance with vendors and finance teams.
