Job Description

Have you retired from the Canadian military and have a background as a Gunner? Are you looking for a position where you can use your expertise from the military and work on a part time / casual basis? 

This job opportunity begins as soon as we find the right person!

  • Provides technical advice: with regards to all aspects of Canadian Artillery Doctrine, Techniques, Tactics and Procedures (TTPs) and to NATO/ABCA (America, Britain, Canada, Australia) specific Artillery Doctrine and TTPs.

  • Prepares and maintains end-user’s documentation pertaining to the usage of Artillery software in development.

  • Maintains Artillery software requirements to ensure Artillery doctrine is accurately reflected in software being developed.

  • Provides training with regards to user processes to developers/testers to ensure domain knowledge is gained and maintained.

  • Advises on Canadian Artillery system technologies.

  • Liaises with DLR2/Artillery Regiments/Artillery School

  • Advises Project Staff on:

    • Problem reports, enhancements, and associated designs to be considered as part of the next project software baseline and the overall project software development roadmaps.

    • Advises on work priority to ensure that stability and robustness are maintained, and high value enhancements are implemented.

    • Participates and advises on technical investigations for improving the FP SW product

  • Supports the Project Team in qualification activities and participates in qualification testing activities.

  • As directed, conducts Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of all technical deliverables from Original Equipment manufacturers (OEM) including but not limited to specifications, design documents, interface control documents, problem reports, test plans, test procedures and test reports.

  • As directed by the Project/Team lead:

    • Advises and assists at representing the Canadian Artillery capability at the Mobile Domain System level.

    • Reviews change requests and associated systems engineering activities and provides advice on impact and technical feasibility.

    • Participates with a Steering Committee, Architecture Working Groups, and planning sessions.

    • Assists with integration testing at the Mobile Domain system level

    • Assists in the process of closing the software production line and making the full transition into an In-Service Support (ISS) concept.

    • Provides guidance and advice for field transition to the new capability.

    • Provides the Project/Team Staff with support and advice on capability planning, fielding, training, maintenance, firmware evolution and project management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum rank level: Captain preferred

  • Troop Commander/ Battle Captain (BK) experience

  • Artillery/Gunner experience with the Canadian Forces

  • Artillery Command and Control Information &/or Weapon Systems Defence project experience

  • Must hold a valid “Secret” Level II clearance with Federal Government

Qualifications & Experience that is considered a strong asset:

  • Instructor of Gunnery (IG) Certification

  • Canadian Army Staff College or equivalency qualification

  • Battery Command Post Officer (BCPO), Regimental Command Post Officer (RCPO)

  • Deployed experience working within an Artillery role

  • Bilingualism (English/French)

Additional Information

  • Must hold a valid 'secret' level clearance with PWGSC/PSPC to start and be registered with the 'controlled goods' program. We can initiate both if required. 
  • Ideally candidates will already hold the 'secret' level, however if they are a strong fit/qualified, we will definitely consider initiating one.
