Job Description:
•Cut, trim, and otherwise prepare standard cuts of meat, poultry, fish, and shellfish for sale at self-serve counters or according to customers’ orders.
•Grind meats and slice cooked meats using powered grinders and slicing machines.
•Prepare special displays of meat, poultry, fish, and shellfish.
•Shape, lace and tie roasts and other meats, poultry or fish and may wrap prepared meats, poultry, fish, and shellfish.
•Manage inventory, keep records of sales, and determine amount, product line and freshness of products according to company and customer requirements.
•Make sure food storage conditions are acceptable.
•May supervise other butchers, or meat cutters or fishmongers.
•Prepare displays of specialty meats, poultry and fish products.
•Cleaning and prepping fish.
Jobs Requirements:Â
•Trained or experienced in food preparation or cutting.
•Ability to use hand tools, stand or walk for long periods of time, lift heavy objects, and work in cold environments.
•Additional training is often required.
•Knowledge of meat preparation and cutting techniques.
•Good communication, task management and customer service skills.
•Working under pressure Fast-paced environment.
•Attention to detail Handling heavy loads Hand-eye coordination
•Experience with equipment and machines.
