Job Introduction
Part of BBC Technology’s BEUT department, Production Management Applications is responsible for the strategy, delivery of a wide range of projects and ownership of software products to assist with the management of data within Productions across the BBC and BBC Studios including:
Initial feasibility, improving workflows, solution design, and business justification.
Advising on the implementation of strategy and identification of technical and business process solutions within Production areas that spans across multiple departments.
Delivery and rollout of software systems, and associated business change in Production areas.
We work closely with a variety of stakeholders and suppliers – both internal and external - to ensure that the BBC’s investment benefits are realised through the delivery of a variety of projects and programmes.
Our projects and products cover a wide range of activities in the area of Production Management, including tools such as the Script Management Tools, Facilities Bookings, Email Marketing tools, Performance Group Management Systems, Sport Major Events Olympics Scheduling tool, Silvermouse, Asset and Event Scheduling applications, the BBC's main TV Compliance system, and local Production Databases such as Eastenders Continuity database. We also offer guidance and configuration with collaboration tools such as Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint Online, and Smartsheet.
This role will predominantly focus on a variety of projects such as a new storage solution for BBC Studios, a continuity tool for Continuing Drama Productions and a new Edit Decision List solution for productions in BBC Scotland. Projects will vary in size and complexity and may include the delivery of solutions in SharePoint/MS Teams as well as the procurement of 3rd party solutions, working with external suppliers. The role will involve working in multiple projects concurrently and may also require technical & business process landscape reviews across departments.
Role Responsibility
This role will specifically include activities such as:
Creating technical and business process landscape documents to align with the BBC’s strategic ambition, demonstrating pain points, manual processes, and areas for improvement such as automated software capabilities.
Capturing functional and non-functional requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, and scenarios.
Documenting the as-is picture and to-be workflows, working independently with users and SMEs to define concepts, driving and challenging business units on their assumptions of how proposals will be successfully executed.
Managing stakeholder relationships, engaging with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, using a range of communications techniques, to define objectives, scope, understanding current workflow’s and ensure successful delivery of projects.
Deliver documentation to enable set up, training, support, and operation of software solutions, managing handover to business-as-usual functions in accordance with agreed change and release management processes.
Putting in place a detailed plan for the analysis, development, and testing of any solution, liaising with internal and external resources. Collaborating with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant should be able to gather and articulate requirements, create use cases and process maps to facilitate decisions that are in the BBC’s best interest, ensuring this aligns with technical strategy with scalable solutions. They should ideally also be able to manage and deliver small projects successfully. 

Experience of business analysis, business process analysis, and data analysis
Experience of business change projects and communicating change at all levels
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information effectively and ability to produce high quality, effective and thorough documentation
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group including executives, managers, and subject matter experts – technical and non-technical
Ability to simplify complex problems, process projects into component parts, explore and evaluate them systematically
Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
Strong decision-making ability and aptitude to identify scalable solutions
Can identify goals and objectives
Excellent organisational and planning ability including ability to deliver small scale projects
Proven negotiation and conflict management skills with the ability to resolve issues at all levels of management
Excellent inter-personal skills and experience of relationship management
Worked on the full project lifecycle of 3+ projects with minimum 1-year BA experience
