My client is a family run Building Supplies provider servicing New Zealand’s construction industry for over 40 years’! They have multiple sites in the Auckland area and established themselves to supply multiple facets of the market from seasoned tradesman, to fresh faced apprentices, all the way through to the keen home improvement DIYer looking for quality and trusted materials and products.

About the Role:

The role consists of supervising and managing an energetic 3 person desk clerk staff, advising them on best practice with customers to provide sound industry knowledge and advice on projects, from raw materials to hardware, upselling where required while maintaining customer service standards and nurturing client accounts.

You will report to the Branch Manager to assist with cycle counts and stock take within the branch, while working alongside the Yard Supervisor to pro-actively maintain stock levels across the business.

About you:

My client is searching for someone with a background in either the building supplies industry or construction in a supervisory capacity who has experience dealing with and/or working as a construction professional. You will have a strong base knowledge in raw materials, building products, construction methods and be able to discuss options with clients on their projects and the best choice materials and hardware. You will have had experience supervising or managing a team either in a Construction role or a position based in a Building Supplies business.

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and/or attributes:

• Strong relationship building
• People management experience
• Trades background
• Building supplies knowledge
• Good customer service skills

The role is a great opportunity for someone who has worked on construction sites in a management role that is wanting to still be involved in the Building industry in a different capacity.
