Mo matou - About us
We are a dedicated bunch of people at Taranaki Regional Council, helping the region continue to be an enviable place to live, play and do business. Our mission is to work for a thriving Taranaki by promoting the sustainable use, development and protection of our natural and physical resources, and advocating for the region's best interests.
Mo te tunga - About the role
The Biodiversity Programme Lead will lead a team of professionals at Taranaki Regional Council to help achieve the goals of our Long Term Plan and Biodiversity Strategy. The four key priorities for us are; working with landowners, enhancing Council programmes, working with others to promote and to protect indigenous biodiversity and gathering biodiversity data. You will be leading a team that works with landowners to identify and manage high value biodiversity sites on private land and monitoring the health of biodiversity within the region. With responsibility for delivering outcomes, the role is pivotal in engaging and motivating the team to achieve and sustain success of the Taranaki Biodiversity Strategy and Key Native Ecosystem programme.
This role allows for plenty of autonomy in leadership direction and project management where you are enabled to set the team up for success the best way you know how. Of course there will be guidance and support from other Programme Leads and the Environment Services Manager too.
Mou - About you
This role requires a great people leader who can step up and create a team environment that fosters pride, purpose and productivity. You will need to be versatile, resourceful and have exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills with emotional and cultural intelligence are essential. A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable and previous work experience in biodiversity management would be a strong advantage.
We like to set people up for success so you'll be a leading applicant if you also have the following:
