Job Description

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

This position provides oversight to various training initiatives that serve the Recreation division, primarily overseeing the development of e-learnings and supporting the use of the Learning Management System (LMS). This position will ensure that training and learning is recorded and adequately tracked through the LMS as well as create and manage internal dashboards and workflows to support business needs.

Training

Support Recreation’s training and learning initiatives by working with subject matter experts, internal partners and/or outside vendors to design and develop learning tools, including e-learning solutions.

Create and maintain e-learning standards that are learner-centric focused and make recommendations to developers to enhance quality and engagement

Provides consultation and oversight to internal customers to ensure training and learning compliance to corporate, divisional and relevant employment legislative standards are being met.

Support the development, delivery, and coordination of training delivered to a division of over 2,000 staff

Report on trends and areas of growth including future opportunities.

Administration

Responsible for the integrity of training and learning that is housed, and managed in the LMS on behalf of Recreation including completed and outstanding learning, certification status and training requirements.

Support tracking through dashboard management, workflows, and other important measures to the Recreation Coordinator and others as required.

Oversee management of payroll verification for part-time staff.

Adherence to all mandates and deadlines.

Assist with drafting and updating related Recreational materials including standard operating procedures, staff handbooks, training content, learning opportunities, reports, surveys, etc.

Ensures implementation is communicated through the appropriate channels and manages the logistics of sending and receiving data.

Customer Service

Demonstrates respect and understanding of the diversity of Brampton’s communities, neighbourhoods and individuals.

Assist with conducting community needs assessments to better understand the community to better inform planning of local initiatives and strategies.

Act as a City of Brampton representative on external community-based committees and working groups to gather information, feedback and to develop partnerships.

Continuous improvement of customer service experience through anticipating, managing and resolving concerns, requests, inquiries and successes.

Financial Accountability

Provides input to budgeting process, including monthly forecasting and monitoring of revenues, expenditures and net.

Reports on trends, emerging issues and potential areas of growth.

Keeps staff and volunteer data regarding certifications and training.

Leadership & Staff Development (contract, co-op, part-time)

Supervise and manage full-time Recreation Clerk and part-time Training & Learning Analysts, including daily supervision regarding work duties, scheduling, adherence to City policies and procedures, i.e. Health and Safety and payroll documentation.

Recruits, trains, coaches and provides guidance to promote effective part-time employee relations and encourage increased moral, innovation and productivity to meet business needs.

Provides performance evaluation feedback, including discipline, if needed. Evaluates staff training needs and arranges for training initiatives, particularly regarding qualifications and certifications.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

EDUCATION:

Post-secondary degree/diploma in Information Systems, Business Analysis, Computer Systems Technician, Recreation, adult education, training & development or equivalent

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in recreation programming and/or training/learning management

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

Excellent judgement, analytical and problem-solving skills

High-degree of attention to detail and ability to stay on task and focused to ensure quick delivery

Highly self motivated and self directed

Conceptual thinker with sound judgement who can gather, analyze and translate best practice information into practical solutions that support the business in achieving goals and priorities.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills along with strong customer service and interpersonal skills

Strong leadership skills and well-developed time management and organization skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

One year supervisory/team lead experience working with staff and volunteers

Knowledge of related legislation, in applicable area of discipline

Proficiency in MS Office products including Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; SharePoint

Advanced knowledge and experience with rapid e-learning tools (Articulate, Storyline 360, Rise or similar)

Advanced working knowledge of Success Factors and/or Learning Management Systems
