Minimum qualifications:

• LLB, JD, similar law degree, or equivalent practical experience
• 3 years of attorney experience
• Authorized to practice law in Canada, with experience in private practice or in an in-house team in Canada

Preferred qualifications:

• 5 years of attorney work experience
• Experience advising clients in structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial agreements
• Familiarity with online technologies, including cloud computing and related regulatory issues
• Ability to work collaboratively, separately, strategically, and with sound judgment
• Ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadline pressure with excellent organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate a diverse range of commercial agreements, including cloud services, professional services, reseller, and other business and technology agreements.
• Respond to a wide variety of legal requests from internal clients, summarizing and communicating legal concepts that business people can use. Advise your business colleagues and other cross-functional stakeholders on legal issues and risks, approval processes, company policies and procedures, and related strategy.
• Help ensure product and operational compliance with Canadian laws and regulations. Coordinate with external legal counsel, review preliminary advice and provide internal recommendations.
• Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements, legal processes, and repositories of legal knowledge.
• Assist in the work of the Canadian legal team to advise the business on our activities in Canada, including product management for online services and hardware, marketing, communications, policy and more
