We have a great opportunity to join us as an Assistant Project Manager (known internally as Engineering Contract Assistant Project Manager).
EDF’s HPC Engineering Directorate is accountable for the timely delivery of the HPC Nuclear Power Plant design, which underpins ability for HPC to be constructed to safety, quality, time, and cost objectives. In your role, you will have the responsibility to ensure delivery of part of the HPC Project detailed design engineering activities, for the life cycle of the contract in accordance with the overall Project schedule.
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Project Manager is to successfully manage the Responsible Designer (RD) Contracts and ensure that the engineering activities are delivered safely to cost, schedule and quality requirements.
Other responsibilities of the Assistant Project Manager include;
• Maintaining effective communications with stakeholders and executing the Project strategies within the delivery of the contract.
• Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with associated reports.
• Within the scope area, anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the contract. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, escalating where necessary.
• Managing the interface between the client and consultant contract management teams and engineers.
• Identifying and coordinating the involvement of multiple stakeholders, including project management, document management and technical teams.
In addition, the post-holder may be required to perform other tasks relevant for the project, to support the wider project management team, or to the personal development of the post holder.
You will be characterised by the following knowledge, qualifications and experience:
• Previous experience in Project Management or Project Engineering on large or complex engineering or construction projects.
• Knowledge of and experience in working with NEC contracts preferred.
• Degree or equivalent (in relevant science or engineering subject preferable).
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Coordination and leadership skills.
• Understanding of quality requirements.
• Decision making and escalation ability for resolution of issues.
• Budget and commercial awareness.
• Ability to learn quickly and demonstrate evidence of using a ‘problem-solving’ approach.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with and effectively manage internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements.
• Knowledge of power station design is desirable (EPR or NPP).
• Knowledge of French is desirable.
