Role Responsibility

To be a successful studio AP on Blue Peter, you’ll have flair for coming up with factual entertainment ideas. You’ll be able to develop and pitch features on a weekly basis, creating items that are innovative, entertaining, interactive and informative.  You should be able to demonstrate a great understanding of and empathy for, the interests and passions of modern British children and be interested in a wide range of general subjects.  You'll have excellent script writing skills and wide-ranging experience of scripting for studio items.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an individual with substantial previous experience as an AP on a studio TV programme, with detailed scripting and production skills; and able to cast and work closely with talent contributors.

You will also have a proven experience of the following:

  • Planning and scripting the best possible factual entertainment content, with the ability to track down fantastic contributors who connect with our audience
  • Writing studio scripts.
  • Managing teams.
  • Experience of working with a craft editor
  • Live experience preferable
  • Experience in booking high profile talent / working with external partners
  • Working under pressure in a busy studio environment.
  • Risk assessment and awareness of legal/ insurance considerations
  • A thorough knowledge of Children’s audience, Blue Peter and what will work well for the brand.
  • Experience of working with children would be beneficial.
  • Attention to detail and strong editorial judgement for ideas development
  • Good understanding of television production techniques and procedures

Band: C
Contract type:  FTC/attachment - 6th June 2022 to 13th January 2023 
Location: MediaCity, Salford (with some remote working)

This role requires a relevant DBS check to be undertaken by the BBC at the appropriate level, at the point of offer of a contract of employment.
