Job Description

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, Music On Demand, the Assistant Producer will work with the wider team and its partners – both internally and externally – to develop and deliver innovative new content, and will also help secure the biggest promotional opportunities for us, to grow audiences for music content across our platforms.

You will be expected to have an understanding, passion and knowledge of a wide range of music genres, and an understanding of the audiences we are trying to reach. These will be multi-skilled roles, requiring a high attention to detail and the ability to work in a busy production environment.  

The role requires some flexible working and travel to ensure delivery of key initiatives such as campaigns and events.

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in the role you will need: 

  • A passion for broadcasting and digital formats and an understanding of those subjects, which fascinate, entertain and appeal to young audiences 
  • Developed knowledge of BBC Radio’s output across digital platforms and that of its competitors in commercial radio and streaming services
  • An interest in and awareness of digital technologies changing the media, broadcasting and audience trends both inside and outside the BBC
  • Photographic and image manipulation skills, including experience of using photo editing & design software such as Photoshop and/or Lightroom
  • Awareness and understanding of video and audio production and editing tools such as Premier and/or Avid + VCS / Startrack
  • Awareness and understanding of CMS multiplatform tools such as iBroadcast
  • Ability to communicate positively with a wide range of stakeholders including talent
  • Proven experience of managing music content on digital platforms
  • Awareness of Diversity and its importance for programme and website content
