Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Media Scheduler to join our BBC Three Planning team. This a permanent role, based in Salford.

The Media Planning department manages the BBC's promotional inventory. The department plans across TV, radio and online, working with many teams from numerous areas of the BBC, including Marketing, Audiences, Production and Editorial, to deliver the best possible promotion to the right audience at the optimum time.

Role Responsibility

• Plan and schedule TV media inventory in line with programme and content priorities
• Structure TV junctions so that the audience flows from one programme to the next, or at least stays within the BBC portfolio (i.e. if they do not like the next programme on BBC One, offer them something on iPlayer or Sounds)
• Analyse if the promotions are working, and make changes if not
• Use analysis of junctions to inform successful junctions going forward
• Report back to the TV team and the wider media planning team about what works and what doesn’t in our promotional space
• Proactive in identifying promotional opportunities outside of the priority content i.e. is there a hidden gem on iPlayer that we can tell people about?
• A keen interest in competitor activity, and what we can learn from them, particularly other broadcasters (C4, ITV) and streaming services (Netflix, Amazon, Disney+)
• Training will be given on all systems needed to do this role

The Ideal Candidate

Ideally you will have:

• An interest in broadcast/streaming media
• Good time management skills
• The ability to meet deadlines for broadcast media
• An interest in copywriting skills and a willingness to develop them
• Good data analysis skills, and an ability to turn them into recommendations for the team
• An interest in digital marketing
