Job Description

Job Introduction

Media Planning are looking for two ambitious Assistant Media Schedulers. The roles sit within the Media Planning team and will support the scheduling and optimising of BBC promotional media content across Television, Radio and/or Online/iPlayer.

Both roles are permanent and based in Salford.

The Media Planning department manages the BBC's promotional inventory. The department plans across TV, radio and online, working with many teams from numerous areas of the BBC, including Marketing, Audiences, Production and Editorial, to deliver the best possible promotion to the right audience at the optimum time.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Media Scheduler, the main responsibility of the Assistant Media Scheduler is to schedule and maintain the promotional space across Television, Radio and/or Online/iPlayer.

You will introduce users to the full breadth of the BBC’s output. You will be accountable for utilizing all available audience data to create the most audience focused promotional schedules, and will be required to ensure these schedules are editorially sound, meet all the relevant requirements and are fit for publication.

The Ideal Candidate

As an Assistant Media Scheduler you will demonstrate a keen interest in and knowledge of the BBC’s television/radio/digital output. You will have a natural interest in developments in the digital media landscape, most specifically in identifying tactical cross promotion opportunities to navigate browsers to other BBC services/events.

With an understanding of the editorial and publication requirements of a media schedule, you will have an appreciation of scheduling and creative media solutions. You will possess an understanding of media research and marketing within a broadcast environment, have excellent time management and the ability to work to deadlines.

These are entry level roles in the department, and training on all systems and media theory will be given if you are successful.
