The opportunity:

We are looking for a Permanent Full Time Trainee Assistant Manager to work at South Canterbury 'Timaru' Hospital.Hours of work are rostered across the week (min. 40hrs per week) dependent upon the needs of the business. As a result total flexibility is required in hours that you can work.

This position will be an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a challenge with huge room for growth. 

Your responsibilities:

This job requires a hands on approach with great people skills and team management. You will be involved with the supervising of staff as well as the day-to-day operations of the unit. You will need to be hands on in the kitchen and/or café and have a willingness to learn on how to become a GREAT supervisor and carry out admin duties. 

To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • Have previous Food Service/Café experience/Barista, ideally at least 2 years.
  • Be confident in knowing your way around a busy kitchen environment
  • Have the ability to think on your feet and be able to overcome situations in a calm and timely manner.
  • Be great at multi-tasking, with a can do attitude you and the ability to prioritise.
  • Have Financial acumen that demonstrates a thorough understanding of operating within a budget
  • In depth understanding of Health, Safety and Environment and ability to apply principles
  • Experience with business excellence through identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies for excellence.
  • Ability to form productive relationships with clients and individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Working knowledge of workplace regulations, including agreement requirements, or a willingness to learn.
