Full job description
Central East Correctional Centre is seeking an organized individual to assist the Laundry Stores Clerk in the receipt, delivery, collection and sorting of offender laundry and general warehouse duties.
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this position, you will:
provide general assistance by unloading incoming laundry, sorting and bundling laundry for unit, distributing laundry etc.; loading and unloading laundry using forklift;
check delivery of supplies/equipm
ensure safety and ent against weigh bills, packing slips, purchase orders as required;security of offender helpers and security of offender laundry area of warehouse, maintain work area by cleaning and ensuring all hazards are safely contained;
assist Storekeeper and other stores clerk as required;
provide supervision to selected offender helpers
This position supervises inmate helpers for the majority of working day, Custodial Responsibility Allowance (K-1 Salary Note) applies.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
You have a valid Forklift certificate.
Specialized Knowledge and Experience:
you have experience with warehousing/shipping practices and procedures to assist with operation of offender laundry area of the warehouse, receive and distribute laundry, supplies and equipment, maintain inventory records;
you have knowledge of proper clean and soiled laundry handling to assist in receiving, sorting and distributing clean laundry (e.g. checking, recording, and moving laundry, and collection of soiled laundry and distribution for cleaning);
you have knowledge of workplace health and safety (i.e. Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Occupational Health and Safety Act);
you have knowledge of security practices/techniques to ensure custody and control of offender helpers;
you are proficient with computer software to update and maintain inventory databases
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
you are able to verify laundry quantity as well as check for loss or damage;
you can review requests, check for proper authority, select required stock items and materials and fill orders;
you can identify diminishing stock items
Communication Skills:
you can exchange facts and information and follow general instructions regarding laundry tasks;
you are able to interact with staff, suppliers, and inmate helpers
