Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Assistant Controller, is responsible for assisting the Finance team with the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of all financial reporting requirements. They will lead the accounts payable and expense report functions as well as manage spending tools including Corporate Credit Cards, expense reporting and procurement specific program. The Assistant Controller will support budget preparation, analysis and reporting as well as assist with financial statement preparation

What you get to do every single day

• Lead all accounts payable and expense report processing to ensure timely and accurate payments
• Accountable to all Corporate Credit Cards and SAP Concur, including research, testing, troubleshooting, and further process improvements
• Support the procurement philosophy, guidelines and process
• Maintain accounting controls by supporting Finance Department policies and procedures
• Support the implementation and full deployment of the integrated purchase order solution, ReQLogic
• Supports the implementation and maintenance of financial reporting and software tools
• Supports annual budget preparation
• Provides financial analysis of operations and accounting information in order to apprise stakeholders of key operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, cash flow and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization
• Supports departmental variance analysis and reporting
• Assist with the annual financial statement audit, including preparation and review of audit working papers, and coordination with external auditors and tax accountants
• Leads, trains and mentors Accounting Coordinator staff
• Other duties and project-oriented tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Post-Secondary Accounting Diploma or Degree required
• Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Designation is an asset, but not required
• Minimum 5 years in an accounting background or related field
• Excellent reporting, communicating and analytical skills
• Detail focused, strong business acumen and well versed in financial modeling and analysis
• Organized team player able to successfully build relationships that foster cooperation within the team
• Deadline oriented and thrives in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• Strong understanding of Accounting Systems and integration opportunities
• Experience with computerized accounting software and a proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, Solver BI360 Concur, ReQLOgic, experience is an asset
• Procurement experience is an asset
