About the Role

We currently have a Full Time Assistant Aquarist vacancy within our team at SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton's Auckland. Reporting to the Displays Manager of the Fish Department, this role is responsible for assisting in delivering best practice animal husbandry as well as providing an amazing experience for our visitors. You will have the opportunity to work across all aquatic exhibits within the aquarium.

Your duties include but are not limited to:

• Monitoring aquarium systems and animals
• Food preparation and feeding of fish and marine animals
• Cleaning and maintaining the exhibits and quarantine tanks
• Delivering inspiring guest presentations
• SCUBA diving within the exhibits for husbandry proposes

About You

You are excited to share your passion and knowledge about animals and the marine environment with our guests. You display a positive disposition, commitment, strong work ethic and a capacity to work through challenges to resolution. Aquatic animal husbandry experience and knowledge would be a definite advantage, in addition to physical fitness as some heavy lifting will be involved.

As this position requires occupational SCUBA diving, it is ideal for applicants to currently hold a minimum of PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Medical Clearance for Occupational Diving.

This position involves work on weekends and holidays as per the departmental roster.
