Arms Supervisor - Administration LPRT

  • Based in Auckland
  • Band F Remuneration range $66,757.00 - $90,324.00
  • Fixed term, Full Time hours
  • Fixed Term Contract until April 2023

It earns trust and confidence by working together, in partnership with other Policing groups, the firearms community, wider New Zealand public and other agencies and organisations to achieve collective impact.

To support this, the Arms Supervisor (Administration - Licencing Pipeline Reduction Team) will provide leadership and management of regulatory compliance and deliver a high-quality service the public deserve and expect.

Your leadership will build a culture of high performance which results in teams that are inclusive, innovative, agile, and passionate in meeting ASC outcomes

Key Accountabilities

  • Team management and looking after our people
  • Lead the day-to-day operational functionality of the Arms Team
  • Ensure efficient, effective and legislatively correct service delivery, to maintain regulatory compliance
  • Lead the practice of PHPF within Arms Teams
  • Develop a culture based on the core values of the NZ Police encouraging diversity, and creating an environment where everyone can thrive
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with Area ASC workgroups, and relevant internal and external Stakeholders.
  • Use interpersonal skills and effective communication to provide regulatory advice to licence holders.
  • Overseeing the creation of vetting packs and National file review
  • Be adaptable to ongoing change

  • Knowledge and experience in delivering firearms administration functions of NZ Police commensurate with the legislative requirements of the Arms Act 1983, Arms Regulations 1992 and the Arms chapter in Police instructions.
  • Experience in leading staff operationally and administratively by displaying leadership behaviours that promote police values and foster a positive team environment
  • Enable the effective performance of individuals and your team through the Police High Performance Framework (including performance management of staff)
  • Good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft 365, NIA and Firearms Case Management particularly as it relates to meeting requirements of the Arms Act 1983 and Arms Regulations 1992.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills and the ability to work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions
  • You can demonstrate building relationships and partnerships (internal and external) to build trust and confidence and and information is shared effectively.
