About the Client

Our Federal Government client is looking for multiple Policy Officers to join them at the APS5-6 level for an immediate start.

About the Assignment

The successful candidates will contribute to the implementation of a range of activities including developing strategies for engagement and supporting delegations to international meetings, planning workshops/webinars to take place during 2022. The positions offer the opportunity to further develop a broad knowledge and understanding of the domestic and international food safety and regulatory environments as well as the international standards setting bodies (Codex, International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE)) as well as their linkages to the World Trade Organization Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Agreements).

The positions may also be required to contribute to supporting the provision of high level administrative and secretariat support to the Codex Committee on Food Import & Export Inspection & Certification Systems, which Australia hosts on a bi-annual basis.

About You

• Ability to work as part of a small team, as well as under limited direction to contribute successful outcomes for projects.
• Well organised, with well developed oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to liaise with technical experts in both industry and government.
• Communications background with the ability to support the development of communication and media products, including website, social media, and video content (One role only)
• Experience/understanding of multilateral trade systems and food regulations (Desirable)
• Knowledge of Government procurement processes and procedures (Desirable)
