We are now seeking applications for the role of Accountant in our Infrastructure Alliance team based in Hamilton.  This is a key role for the Alliance, where you will be responsible for managing and executing financial reporting relating to the Infrastructure Alliance.  You will provide the team and Hamilton City Council with up to date, accurate financial data and reporting to achieve a high level of team and client satisfaction.

About the role
Ultimately this role will need solid financial skills but it is not your standard sit at your desk and get on with it kind of role.  There is plenty of interaction with a wide variety of stakeholders, so bring your people management and accounting skills and we will put them to good use.

Day to day you will:

• Ensure month end processing, accruals, journals (including salaries and wages), job management, cost analysis, reconciliations and other transactions are undertaken in a timely and accurate manner
• Assist the Performance Manager with the annual Alliance budget and target cost development process
• Collate and consolidate forecasting information from budget holders on a monthly basis for review with the Performance Manager. Report on variances between forecast and actual in the following month
• Assist the managers to check and process all supply chain partner and subcontractor claims for payment
• Lead the annual external financial audit process, working in co-operation with the auditor to provide relevant financial information
• Develop relationships with client representatives, anticipating and resolving issues, and ensuring effective financial service.

About you
Bring your savvy interpersonal skills and relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or similar, this is the perfect role to spread your wings and develop your accounting career. You’ll also have:

• Intermediate/Advanced user of Microsoft Office suite – specifically Excel
• Financial systems management experience – JDE or similar ERP system
• Relationship Management skills
• Demonstrates problem solving skills and use of initiative
• Demonstrates a high level of Emotional Intelligence

You will need to work autonomously, so must have drive and be meticulous to keep control of lots of moving parts.
