Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) Auckland are looking for a full time registered AOD clinician to work in our Altered High Regional Youth Service based in Kingsland, Auckland

CADS are the largest Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) service in New Zealand working with over 15000 people each year. CADS provide free community and inpatient AOD treatment from a number of locations across Auckland. CADS are committed to empowering the community to discover healthier use of substances (harm minimisation) and to promote recovery and wellbeing.

About the team

The CADS Altered High Youth Service is a vibrant and innovative service for young people from the age of 13 to 20 years who present in relation to alcohol and other drug issues. We provide a service that strives to maintain and improve quality, standards of clinical practice, community and professional relationships and networks, and supports the growth and development of staff. We are a mobile regional community team, based in Kingsland and a current driver’s licence is essential.

About you

We are currently looking for a full-time Clinician who will have a strong CEP (Co-existing Problems) focus. This role requires someone with the both AOD and mental health skills and proven CEP experience.

Are you are an experienced, youth and family focused Alcohol and Drug clinician with an interest in working collaboratively and in partnership with community services who would like to make a positive difference in the lives of others? We are looking for someone from an allied health background who has initiative and is highly motivated.

Applicants will be able to demonstrate a willingness and commitment to working in partnership with Maori and Pacific Island youth services and with a range of services and sectors such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, CYFS, Non-Government Organisations, Education and Justice.

Essential

• Relevant three year tertiary qualification and professional registration.
• Relevant knowledge of, and experience working with youth and their families/ whanau.
• Proven CEP experience.
• Knowledge of the concepts and implications of the Harm Reduction model, and willingness to work within this framework.
• Proven skills in clinical assessment, treatment planning and goal setting.
• Ability to develop and implement treatment plans in line with client goals.
• Experience in counselling and psycho/educational group work.
• The ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Knowledge of and working with the CYF Youth Justice system.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective networks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Drivers licence for both manual and automatic vehicles.
• Computer skills.

Desired

• Extensive experience working with youth and their families/whanau.
• Significant experience and/or training in the alcohol and drug field.
• Relevant training in family work e.g. MST, Functional Family Therapy (FFT), Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT), 'Systems of Care' models.
• Relevant postgraduate health or education related tertiary qualification.
