About this role
You will play a leading role in unlocking commercial value from some of the richest and most exciting datasets in the UK (including those from BT and EE). You will provide senior technical leadership, working closely with the product and commercial teams as well as BT's Customer Facing and Corporate Units, to develop high-quality, ground-breaking and trusted solutions to address customer needs. The focus of this role is on developing and deploying cutting-edge AI technology to generate insight that we can use to power trusted and personalised interactions across all channels, optimise our operations, detect and respond to anomalies, and create customised products and services. You will need to leverage and lead the application of various AI and data science approaches to develop and enrich business solutions across multiple application areas, driving new revenue streams for BT.
You'll have the following responsibilities
Lead the high-quality and efficient development of AI capabilities, with a human-in-the-loop, based on large and complex data sets, across multiple projects and product lines, to meet customer requirements.
Be responsible for effective technical management and delivery for key client projects.
Work with commercial sales and product management team to agree and prioritise client deliverables and new product development workstreams.
Raise the awareness across the organisation of ways to design AI taking full account of the human-in-the-loop, and prioritise key use cases for AI.
Be a subject matter expert across BT for Interactive AI development, with responsibility for advising other AI and Data Science teams to significantly lift capability and adoption.
Collaborate with multiple Customer Facing Units, technology, legal and R&D teams to ensure safe development of AI and data science applications, with appropriate ongoing governance.
Contributing to the development of and ensuring adherence to relevant frameworks and regulations to ensure safe development of AI and data science applications.
Collaborate with the Applied Research team to harness the latest developments in interactive AI and data.
Support business case development, sales tender bids and customer facing consultancy projects where required.
Management, coaching and mentoring other data scientists and engineers.
Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes.
You'll have the following skills & experience
Solid grounding in computer science/software engineering or strong programming skills – You are able to write well-engineered code (maintainable, portable and documented).
Flexible and agile work skills – You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment across multiple projects, with little or no direct supervision.
Problem solving skills - You show initiative, eager to learn through self-learning and research.
Commercial awareness – You understand company strategies/priorities and can plan workload and technical solutions accordingly.
Excellent communication - You simplify technical concepts and outcomes are comfortable communicating verbally and in writing to a range of different audiences. You can create accurate, succinct, relevant and informative reports on progress and decision-points and can make clear recommendations on next steps.
Data Protection – You have a good understanding of data protection laws and have a commitment to data protection and the ethical use of data.
