Job Description

Dunedin Hospital

Part-time vacancy 0.7FTE (28 hours per week)

Permanent opportunity

If you enjoy working in a fast-paced and busy environment, then this role could be what you are looking for! Our Radiation Oncology Outpatient service is looking for an experienced administrator to join the team and hit the ground running, ensuring the department's administrative needs are met on a permanent, part-time basis.

About the role

Working in the front-line of a busy outpatient environment at Dunedin Hospital, this role will challenge your organisational skills with competing deadlines and conflicting priorities.

You will be ensuring the smooth running of the service by providing an efficient and timely administrative support function that is responsive and flexible to the changing needs of the service/organisation. You will hold a key role within the service, maintaining good relationships with the consultants, registrars, nursing staff, management and administration teams - no small feat!

Our preferred candidate will have experience on a reception or front of house setting, able to juggle enquiries, people and paperwork with a respectful, warm and friendly manner. The shifts will be Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm (exact hours to be negotiated with the successful candidate).

The salary for this position is based on the PSA Collective Employment agreement, South Island Administrative MECA, salary scale S4, currently $52,080 - $59,759 per annum (pro rata). Please note this collective agreement salary scale is currently under review.

About you

As part of the administration team, you will form part of the front line so your friendly, welcoming and resilient nature will be appreciated. You'll have a positive outlook, excellent relationship management skills and function well under the pressures that often occur in a health environment.

As an experienced administrator you'll be comfortable working on different things and juggling several at once - adaptability is a key attribute of this role. The ability to handle confidential patient information discreetly is also an absolute requirement. You must have a minimum of two years clerical administrative experience, knowledge of office systems and procedures, excellent computer skill including knowledge of Microsoft Work, Outlook and in particular Excel.

Experience working within a hospital environment would be an advantage, but not essential; the main thing is that you can put your head down and get the job done.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have the following:

Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals

Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills

The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused

Strong computer skills

The ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive and professional manner

Some people find this kind of role challenging - but not you. You thrive on the pace and the challenge. In return, for the right person, we offer a supportive and friendly team, competitive remuneration and above all an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and develop your career. Apply now!
