Job Description

Columbia Learning Group owns and operates several companies, including Heartsafe EMS, Columbia Medical Training, and Columbia Paramedic Academy. We are headquartered in offices located in Victoria and Langley, BC and provide first aid, medical responder and paramedic training throughout the province of British Columbia.

Job Summary

Reporting to the company President, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for students enrolled in first aid and CPR courses, WorkSafe BC courses and entry level medical responder training courses.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Answering front line inquiries via phone, email or in person
  • Registering students for courses
  • Coordinating invoices and processing payments
  • Coordinating course logistics, including scheduling instructors, booking venues and ordering course supplies
  • Performing general office duties as required
  • Tracking and submitting student information
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Ability to set up and maintain electronic and paper files
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented
  • High level of computer literacy, including intermediate level experience with Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Professional and courteous phone manner
  • Customer-service oriented approach
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to respond professionally, courteously and in a clear manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion in preparing confidential student information
  • Knowledge of first aid programs, WorkSafe BC or the paramedic industry an asset

Work Schedule

The successful candidate will work Monday - Friday, from 0815 - 1645. Overtime work during the evenings or weekends is typically not required, but when opportunities arise it will be completely optional.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, permanent position with 40 hours of work each week. We offer $19.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on the successful candidate\'s experience and qualifications.

In addition, we offer employer matched RRSP contributions, 3 weeks (15 days) paid vacation in your first year, paid leave for all statutory holidays, 10 paid sick leave days annually (which can be used for yourself or to care for immediate family members), and 100% employer premium paid medical and dental benefits.
